Concert Attire Requirements
All incoming percussionists should sign up for Percussion Class. This class is designed to review and extend techniques used for concert and marching percussion, including snare, mallets, timpani, and "trap" equipment.
Percussion class is a performance based class, and students are expected to perform at Solo & Ensemble, in the Spring Concert, and additional venues as announced by the Director.

Prior Expectations for Percussion Class:
Be aware of the basic NARD 26 rudiments (for tips on ALL rudiments, go to http://www.vicfirth.com/education/rudiments.html).
Be aware of keyboard scales and very basic music notes on the lines and spaces of the treble cleff and bass cleff staves. Percussionists are expected to purchase their own drum sticks (Vic Firth SD1 for snare drum) and practice pads. Other mallets and stick requirements will be announced on the first week of school. |
